Nike, SNKRS, ATLANTA: The Wait Is Over

As an avid shoe collector and overall connoisseur of sneakers, the time has finally come for ATL to get some real love from Nike. I am a resident of ATL as well so for me to even understand how Atlanta has been overlooked for their since of fashion, style and love of sneakers has been beyond me for the longest. And for Nike to have shown so much love to New York, Los Angeles and occasionally Chicago via SNKRS Pass etc., I’ll admit that I am happy as hell to be a resident of Atlanta right now and extremely happy that the city that brings so much when it comes to the trends being set in what people call the “Culture” gets the well deserved notoriety. This is without question long overdue.

On to the SNKRS pop-up! For about two months Nike has provided a SKRS pop up in Atlanta that will give sneaker enthusiasts and resellers as well a chance to get their hands on some of the hottest releases both past and present. The news about the pop-up for a few people were rather sudden, but for those in the know, it was expected. Either way, the crowd control was going to be tough to handle, especially with the Super Bowl being being in Atlanta this year. The opportunity to make some serious money is certainly there.

February and March are expected to be highly anticipated in the world of sneakers with the final installment of The Ten Off-White collab, NBA All-Star Weekend amongst other pairs. Scheduled to be in Atlanta until March 26th will give plenty of opportunities to stay A-1 in the sneaker game.

Lastly, I want to say it’s about to Nike and also I hope this isn’t a 1 stop shop. The city of Atlanta deserves more exclusives and special drops just like the before named cities. If you’re in the city and would like to stop by the SNKRS pop-up, the address is right below.

A Letter To JG

Dear JG

How are you doing my brotha? I mean, like how are you feeling, what are your thoughts, what do you think about in idle time? I’m interested in how you feel personally because that’s all that matters to me and several others. I could give a damn about a football and your ability within this game because my brother, my friend, you are much more important than any game.

I’ve been reading your story and I admit it is heartbreaking and I’m not going to be like a lot of people and tell you I understand how you felt back when all this started in Middle School, hell mentally before that. I do believe in demons and I do understand the impact of trauma and how that can have an affect on ones mind. I grew up in a small but reckless city called Saginaw. MI and have seen my fair share of crazy shit. You know, dead bodies on corners, murderers, friends I’ll never see again from death and behind bars. All that shit can break the strongest of us.

The thing is JG, you matter to a ton of people, maybe you know them but there are some you don’t know, but we are out here and in support of you!! Yes you, JG the young black King who will change the lives of thousands. We care about you because we love you and want the best for you the person. And although it is almost impossible to tune out things these days, please try to tune out football and those who only seem to care about you when you are participating for their favorite sports team. I’m all for taking care of self because at the end of the day, you have to make sure that you are fine.

You see, even with your current problems I see a long line of success waiting for you. You have already beat the odds JG, and on the road to building up yourself please remember that this is all part of the process. The only timeline that you are on is the one God has destined for you. And I know there is pain in all of this, I know there is, but you have a special story and one that you are not the only one to go through so think about that going forward. You have the ability to help more people than you ever imagined but it starts with you.

More blessings you JG and get well ASAP. We need you happy and healthy.

Confidence

The truth is confidence can come from many different forms both internal and external. Going into a situation the right string of confidence can push you towards whatever goals you may have. But you have to ultimately believe in yourself for everything to come to fruition. I’m saying this because often times we say we believe but don’t demonstrate that belief in our actions.

As someone who played sports there were always times that I had someone pushing and motivating me because they believed in me and my talent and wanted to build up my confidence. Those times I will never forget and am forever grateful for, but it took me believing in myself for that confidence to come to life. People on the outside can tell you that you are the greatest ever but if you don’t believe that yourself, you may never build your confidence.

The purpose of these post is to help push everyone who takes their time to read this to be the source of your on confidence building and believe in yourself. Only you have to make actions become a reality and by you stepping onto the scene like it’s already yours, your half-way to claiming those wins you have to accomplish for yourself.

Art Of The Hustle

The Art of The Hustle can include many different components as to what can make your hustle(s) successful but the one thing that is a must, is indeed, mindset. It is easy for tons of people to talk about living the life through the hustle and grind, not so easy for anybody is actually putting in the effort.  This is why there is importance in mindset.  You must understand that within the hustle, an L is all part of the game.  Like Meek said, wins and losses are a part of the process.

From the information I gather listening to different interviews or reading articles that include whom I consider muse's, something that points out is one not limiting themselves to a certain area.  If you research these two, you will clearly see their hustle is spread out.  I don't believe in placing limits on opportunity and in the same sense, I am learning not to place limits on ideas.  The hustle includes being open and that may mean using different exports, actually taking those ideas that pop up in your head and planning them out to success.  I look at a business mind such as Maverick and see that he has been able to seek and utilize the moment at the right time.  The aspect of even understanding when the timing is right to bring an idea to fruition is something we underrate, let alone preparing yourself to be ready when it's time.  The business moves he has propelled for himself and others in his camp such as a LeBron James is a testament to his study of what he can bring to the market.  As it comes to Big Shaq, yes the retired NBA Hall of Famer, he is involved in everything.  Being an brand ambassador, partial owner, etc., his name is involved in tons of not only profitable businesses, but businesses who have claimed stake in the market so that they have been  and will be around a while.  Reading about Shaq and what he calls his 10 rules allows me to see what has made him successful even off of the hardwood.  His hustle is definitely respected.  Find some sort of muse, believe in yourself, and take advantage of your ideas!  The hustle never stops!

Shaq's Top 10 Rules for Success and Business

1) Follow Your Heart

2) Use Criticism As Motivation

3) Focus On The Solution

4) Master Being Different

5) Dedicate Yourself 1000 Percent

6) Be Motivated By Competition

7) Value Partnerships

8) Make Them Remember Your Name

9) Be An Inspiration

10) Have Fun

One thing that I would certainly suggest in building up your mindset, motivation, confidence, etc. is to find a muse or few.  A muse is important because as you aim to push for a better you, whether it be physically, mentally, spiritually or whatever, you need to have a space of thoughts to help push you.  When you seek to create, finding pits of inspiration is key so maybe it is just meditation, or maybe you have a physical muse.  For myself, I have noticed that I have found muses in the form of businessmen in the sports world, more specifically Maverick Carter and Shaquille O'Neal.  As a source of inspiration for my continued journey of growth, business, and brand influence, I look and listen to how these two move within the various industries they are in.

Resolution or Evolution

As of recent years, definitely more than my younger years I have noticed a different type of reaction to people who speak of their New Year’s resolutions.  It was once a very positive, embracing and inspirational thing.  The entire process of putting together a list full of resolutions and lifestyle changes that one wanted to associate with their fresh start.  Now it seems that people are being vilified for wanting to implement positive aspects into their life.

How I see it, we should all aspire to improve by the day and anytime a person sets goals of improvement that is something that we should all both encourage and embrace.  Change is not easy at all and one of the things that makes it difficult is the expected responses from other people.  And I know what y’all are saying, “who cares what others think,” and in a sense you’re absolutely right but as humans it is in our nature to care what others think.  Even so, that is beside the point of this post lol.  Why are we so embracing of the BS for the most part but turn the other way when someone states how they want to evolve positively?

We often question can changes be made overnight, as in can changes be made on January 1st and the truth is changes can be made at any time.  It all depends on the person and when they are ready to apply changes.  If someone picks the new year to start the change then so be it.  And when they are ready, we should be there to support.
