NCAA March Madness, A U.S. Holiday

March Madness is here. The kickoff for March Madness is probably one of the most anticipated weekends for sports lovers. Hell, even those who are not sports lovers can enjoy this weekend because college ties may be near. And for those who are in the work force, it is not uncommon to hear large commotion or even see a gathering of fellow coworkers huddled around laptops, in the break room etc. to watch some of the games. Starting at noon on a Thursday with games virtually until midnight for four days straight, man for someone who lovers basketball like I do, it’s bliss lmao.

I have always found collegiate sports more interesting than professional. There is something to be said about these young individuals playing with the pressure of pressures and the world watching. This is also a time where you see those players who are top dawgs put on the best of shows. Earn your respect and possibly earn a chance at the next level!

March Madness is here.

Confidence

The truth is confidence can come from many different forms both internal and external. Going into a situation the right string of confidence can push you towards whatever goals you may have. But you have to ultimately believe in yourself for everything to come to fruition. I’m saying this because often times we say we believe but don’t demonstrate that belief in our actions.

As someone who played sports there were always times that I had someone pushing and motivating me because they believed in me and my talent and wanted to build up my confidence. Those times I will never forget and am forever grateful for, but it took me believing in myself for that confidence to come to life. People on the outside can tell you that you are the greatest ever but if you don’t believe that yourself, you may never build your confidence.

The purpose of these post is to help push everyone who takes their time to read this to be the source of your on confidence building and believe in yourself. Only you have to make actions become a reality and by you stepping onto the scene like it’s already yours, your half-way to claiming those wins you have to accomplish for yourself.

Resolution or Evolution

As of recent years, definitely more than my younger years I have noticed a different type of reaction to people who speak of their New Year’s resolutions.  It was once a very positive, embracing and inspirational thing.  The entire process of putting together a list full of resolutions and lifestyle changes that one wanted to associate with their fresh start.  Now it seems that people are being vilified for wanting to implement positive aspects into their life.

How I see it, we should all aspire to improve by the day and anytime a person sets goals of improvement that is something that we should all both encourage and embrace.  Change is not easy at all and one of the things that makes it difficult is the expected responses from other people.  And I know what y’all are saying, “who cares what others think,” and in a sense you’re absolutely right but as humans it is in our nature to care what others think.  Even so, that is beside the point of this post lol.  Why are we so embracing of the BS for the most part but turn the other way when someone states how they want to evolve positively?

We often question can changes be made overnight, as in can changes be made on January 1st and the truth is changes can be made at any time.  It all depends on the person and when they are ready to apply changes.  If someone picks the new year to start the change then so be it.  And when they are ready, we should be there to support.

Bounce Back Game

What is your bounce back game like?  Like really, how do you react in times of failure, loss, or any of that other bad mess that can happen to you?  The bounce back game must be strong and part of that is faith and belief in yourself.  Understanding that no matter how the cards are dealt or how they play out, you will be good regardless.  You have to believe that if you lost it all, you can get it all back, plus some.  Remember the saying, “you ain’t a boss until you take a loss.”  Well I do believe there is some truth to that.

For myself, I look at failure as lessons learned so I know that once the experienced scenarios come around again I should be able to handle and react differently so that the outcome is a bit different.  There is this Jay Z line that I always go back to time and time again.  “I will not lose for even in defeat there’s a valuable lesson learned so that evens it up for me.”  And since then that is exactly how I have approached life.  When things don’t turn out for your favor you can mope around about it or you can level up and do better.  For me, the only option is to level up.  Remember, if you lived through it then you have another chance.

This post is something short for those dealing with life’s lessons.  That is what we will call them, not losses, not failures, but life’s lessons.  Always know after a lesson, you are built for this shit!
